Manipur: 5 including policemen arrested in arms snatching case at BJP MLA's farmhouse
Imphal: Four policemen along with a watchman were arrested in connection with the recent arms snatching case from the bodyguards of a BJP MLA in Imphal, Manipur.
The accused were remanded into a ten-day judicial custody, officials said on Thursday.
The police personnel and the watchman of the farmhouse located at Awang Leikinthabi village of the Imphal West district were arrested after an investigation.
The farmhouse is owned by the BJP MLA Kh Joykishan elected from the Thangmeiband Assembly constituency.

The personnel were deployed in the farmhouse as it was located in an area near Kangpokpi district.
However, on August 27 night, some unknown armed miscreants reportedly overpowered the security guards of a BJP MLA and snatched three self-load rifles (SLRs) at the said farmhouse in the interdistricts of Imphal West and Kangpokpi.
The arrests of the policemen were made on the charge of dereliction from the duties and arrests were made soon after commissioning the crime, the police said.

The arrested policemen namely, Meisnam Krishnadas, 47, Maibam Sanjit, 34, Longjam Jayenta, 32, Oinam Bandi 30, and the watchman of the farmhouse, namely Meinam Ibomcha, 45, were produced a court in Imphal West district and they were remanded into judicial custody for ten days.
In the follow-up actions, the joint security forces from the state and centre, and large-scale combing operations were launched in and around the Awang Leikinthabi village and other adjoining locations.
However, there is no report of recovering the snatched weapons.
