Manipur: 12 hospitalised after eating fermented fish, mushrooms
Imphal: At least twelve people were hospitalised due to food poisoning after eating dishes arranged with wild mushrooms and partly rotten fish in two districts of Manipur during the past 24 hours.
Police said that ten people including 5 females from Songgol village under Sangaikot sub-division of Churachandpur district have been admitted to Churachandpur District Hospital due to food poisoning.
They had a communal dinner and shared some side dishes prepared by one of the villagers with fermented fish and other vegetables, the reports said.
Later, all of them reportedly fell ill complaining of stomach ache, diarrhoea, nausea, and vomiting.
They were rushed to the Churachandpur District Hospital and were given medical care.
Their ages are between 20 to 70 years and their conditions are stated to be stable.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles provided medical assistance to two elderly residents of Nungshang village in Ukhrul district.
They were critically affected by wild mushroom poisoning.
The elderly persons were administered first aid specifically tailored to counteract the toxic effects of the mushrooms.
A defence wing statement stated that after their condition stabilized, both patients were transferred to the District Hospital in Ukhrul for comprehensive treatment and observation.
