Imphal: Security forces in Manipur conducted successful operations in the past 24 hours, leading to the seizure of a significant cache of weapons and explosives.

In a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and state police, a militant hideout was found near Singda Dam in Kangpokpi district.

The operation resulted in the recovery of one 9mm pistol with a magazine, three modified grenades, two HE-36 hand grenades, two single-barrel rifles, 50 fired cases, and five improvised mortars.

In another operation, the Assam Rifles conducted a search in the general area of Mongjang and Gunjil villages in Chandel district. This operation yielded the recovery of one M-16 rifle, two locally made mortars (Pompi), ammunition, and other war-like stores.

While no arrests were made during these operations, the confiscated items have been handed over to the Manipur police for further investigation and legal action.

The successful operations highlight the ongoing efforts of the security forces to combat the proliferation of weapons and explosives in the state.
