Kuki students’ body urges Manipur Governor to reinstate two ZEOs as per HC order
Imphal, Nov 13: The Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) General Headquarters has pressed the Governor of Manipur to enforce the Manipur High Court’s directive by reinstating two Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), Jangkhohao Haokip (ZEO Churachandpur) and Lhingtinneng Singsit (ZEO Kangpokpi), who were suspended earlier this year.
In a formal petition submitted to Raj Bhavan, KSO leaders Dr. Seiboi Touthang, General Secretary, and T. Haokip, Education Secretary, accused the Education Department of “deliberate defiance” of the High Court’s ruling issued on May 19 and 20, 2025.
The court had annulled the suspension orders of January 12, 2024, and directed the government to reinstate both officials within the prescribed 90-day period under service rules.
Despite the court’s clear instructions, KSO alleged that the authorities have failed to comply, prolonging what the organisation called a “serious administrative lapse.”
“The persistent disregard for the High Court’s order undermines judicial integrity and weakens public confidence in governance,” the KSO’s statement read.
The organisation demanded that the Governor’s office intervene immediately and issue posting orders so that both officers can resume their official duties without further delay.
The student body also reiterated that adherence to judicial orders is essential for maintaining transparency, accountability, and the rule of law in Manipur’s administrative framework.
“The government must act swiftly to restore justice and uphold the authority of the judiciary,” the KSO said, adding that reinstating the two officers would send a “strong message in favor of lawful governance and institutional discipline.”
