KCP-PWG cadre arrested in Manipur, weapons cache seized
Imphal: Intelligence-based cordon and search operations carried out extensively by a joint team of state and central forces led to the arrest of an individual associated with an underground outfit and the recovery of arms and ammunition in two districts of Manipur on Tuesday.
The police reported on Wednesday that security forces arrested an active cadre of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party–People's War Group (KCP-PWG) from the Chandranadi Lamkhai area under Wangoi PS in Imphal West district. He was identified as Ronaldo Thoudam alias Lamjingba (23), a resident of Haoreibi Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district.
In the second phase of the operation, a joint team of central and state forces recovered a cache of weapons at Gelmol village under Churachandpur PS in Churachandpur district. The operation led to the recovery of the following items:
i. A long-range rocket with approximately 40 kg of explosive,
ii. Rocket launching stands,
iii. A battery piece, and
iv. Five (05) sandbags.
Manipur Police continued its drive to curb motor vehicle offences and issued 33 challans to offenders, amounting to a total of Rs 57,000.
Security forces continued to conduct search operations and area domination exercises in fringe and vulnerable areas across districts.
Security forces ensured the movement of 345 essential-item vehicles along NH-37. They deployed strict measures at vulnerable spots and provided convoys on sensitive stretches to guarantee free and safe passage.
