Insurgents' camp busted, hidden weapons recovered in Manipur
Imphal: Security forces dismantled a temporary camp allegedly set up by suspected anti-socials or insurgents and recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives during a counterinsurgency operation, the police reported on Wednesday.
Law enforcers unearthed the hidden weapons at Uran Chiru village and its surrounding areas under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district during a flash operation on Tuesday.
Although no arrests were made, the security forces concluded the operation with the recovery of the following items:
i) One (.32) pistol
ii) One (9 mm) pistol
iii) One (.22) rifle
iv) One repeater gun
v) Three hand grenades
vi) Two detonators
vii) Three (.32) live rounds of ammunition
Manipur Police continues its drive to curb motor vehicle offences:
Manipur Police issued 17 challans to motor vehicle offenders, amounting to a total fine of Rs 46,000 on Tuesday.
The police reported that a total of 115 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed across different districts of Manipur; however, no one was detained.
Movement of 245 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 was ensured. The report further added that strict security measures have been implemented in all vulnerable locations, and a security convoy has been provided in sensitive stretches to ensure the free and safe movement of vehicles.
