Imphal: A woman cadre associated with the proscribed People's Liberation Army (PLA), the armed wing of the banned Revolutionary People's Front (RPF/PLA), was among four insurgents arrested during counterinsurgency operations (CIOs) in the Manipur valley on Tuesday.

Police reported on Wednesday that the arrestees were involved in extortion activities targeting the general public, private schools, and government employees. Four mobile phones and several documents were recovered from them.

Two active RPF/PLA cadres, Shantosh Boro (30) and Mrs. Hodam (O) Moromi Devi (31), were arrested from their respective residences at Dibong Sanakhong under Jiribam Police Station, Jiribam district.

In the second phase of the operation, police arrested a self-styled Lance Corporal of RPF/PLA, Thokchom Bijoy Singh (56), also known as Bhopen, Bike, Tayai, and Kheda, originally from Thinungei Awang Leikai, Bishnupur District, and currently residing in Yairipok Kakmayai Maning Leikai, Thoubal District.

He was apprehended from the locality of his current residence under the Nongpok Sekmai Police Station.

During the final phase of the operation on Tuesday, police arrested a self-styled Sergeant Major of the outlawed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK PRO).

He was later identified as Thongam Anand Singh (33), also called Eku, of Sekmaijin Thongam, Imphal West, and was apprehended from his residence under the Mayang Imphal Police Station.
