Imphal: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has instructed a repoll for six polling stations in three assembly segments across two districts, Ukhrul and Senapati, for the Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency.

The previous poll held on April 26, 2024, is deemed void, and April 30, 2024, has been designated as the date for a fresh poll.

In an official notification, Pradeep Kumar Jha, Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, announced that the repoll will be conducted at the specified polling stations, with voting hours scheduled from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on April 30, 2024.

The CEO Manipur encourages all eligible voters from these stations to actively participate in the electoral process.

The decision for the repoll is in accordance with Sections 58(2) and 58A(2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, as stated in the notification.

Meanwhile, the Congress, the primary opposition party in Manipur, has called for repolls in 17 polling stations, citing extensive booth rigging and violence during the previous election on Friday.

The affected polling stations are as follows, listed against their respective assembly segments 44 Ukhrul (ST),  44/20-Shangshak A, 44/36-Ukhrul (A), 44/41-Ukhrul (D-1), 44/50-Ukhrul (F), 45-Chingai (ST) 45/14-Chingai , 47-Karong (ST) and 47/33-Oinam (A1).
