IMPHAL: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh has reiterated the state government’s stance on the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state, emphasizing that the decision ultimately lies with the central government.

Speaking on the matter, Manipur CM Biren Singh stated, “The decision has to be taken by the central government.”

“Our Assembly has passed the resolution and recommended, but now the rest of the work is in the hands of the Centre,” said Manipur CM Biren Singh.

He added: “So I will make the request to the union home ministry and I will follow it up.”

The statement comes in the wake of ongoing discussions over potential implementation of the NRC in Manipur, a topic of considerable significance and debate.

The Manipur assembly previously passed a resolution recommending the implementation of the NRC in the state.
