Churachandpur in Manipur gears up for Lok Sabha elections 2024

CHURACHANDPUR: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a two-day training program for polling personnel was conducted on Wednesday (March 27) at Churachandpur government college in Manipur.

Churachandpur district in Manipur boasts a total of 274 polling stations, with 110 of them exclusively operated by women polling personnel.

Additionally, 15 polling stations have been designated specifically for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The first round of training saw the participation of 901 male officials appointed as presiding officers and polling officers – I, II, and III, representing all four assembly constituencies within Churachandpur district of Manipur.

The training session on Thursday (March 28) will be attended by 613 female officials appointed to similar roles.

To facilitate the training, nine assistant professors from Churachandpur government college in Manipur and three assistant professors from Lamka College were appointed as training related officials and master trainers.

They provided comprehensive training to all polling personnel, focusing on areas such as handling Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), utilizing booth apps, effective communication, and conducting mock polls to ensure familiarity.

S Thienlaljoy Gangte has been appointed as the nodal officer, while Michael Fimliensang Fimate serves as the assistant nodal officer (training management) to oversee the training process.
