He said that out of a total of 10,675 illegal immigrants, 85 have been deported in the last five years.

Moreover, to curb the influx of illegal immigrants into Manipur, a committee has been set up to conduct a verification drive, the chief minister stated.

This drive aims to identify illegal immigrants in the districts of Churachandpur, Chandel, Tengnoupal, Kamjong and Pherzawl districts of Manipur.

The committee operates under the supervision of the Manipur home department, following a government order issued on March 24 last year.

Before the outbreak of the ongoing violence, the committee had already detected 2480 illegal immigrants from Myanmar.
