Cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives recovered in Manipur

Kakching: A huge cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives has been recovered in a joint operation conducted by central and state forces over the past 24 hours, the Manipur police confirmed on Thursday.

Acting on an intelligence tip, a combined team comprising Kakching district commandos, 5/9 Gorkha Rifles, 33 Assam Rifles, and the 126 Battalion of the BSF initiated the operation.

The intensive search took place at an abandoned camp of miscreants located in Sekmaijin Mamang Leikai, under the jurisdiction of the Hiyanglam police station in Manipur's Kakching district.

The operation, conducted between 7 am and 10 am on Wednesday, led to the discovery of numerous warlike weapons. However, no arrests have been made, according to police reports.

The recovered items include:

• One 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifle
• One MA3 MK-II AK Rifle
• Six hand grenades
• Two 9mm pistols
• Two Baofeng handsets
• Two tube launchers
• Five tear smoke grenades
• Four anti-riot stun shells
• Eight tear smoke shells
• Five anti-riot cartridges
• Two helmets
• Two signal grenades
• Five bulletproof vests
• Thirty-five live rounds of AK Rifle ammunition
• Eleven empty cases of AK Rifle ammunition
• Eight detonators
• Two live rounds of 9mm ammunition
• Eight rounds of 12 bore cartridges
• Five live rounds of .38 ammunition
• Ten empty cases of .303 ammunition

The confiscated items have been handed over to the Hiyanglam police station for further investigation.
