Manipur: Youth kidnapped for ransom, rescued, abductor arrested

Imphal: Swiftly responding to a report, a contingent of the well-trained commandos of the state forces, Manipur Police, and Assam Rifles initiated a comprehensive effort and arrested one kidnapper.

A 35-year-old youth was successfully rescued from the kidnapper in the operation.

An arm was also recovered, officials said on Saturday.

Assam Rifles along with Lilong Police and Thoubal Police Commandos successfully rescued one Khairuz Zaman and apprehended one kidnapper from Lilong, Thoubal district in Manipur on Friday.

The victim was kidnapped by Sajid Khan, a resident of Lilong Chanda Khong Mamei from Lilong on February 22 and a monetary demand of rupees 6 lakh was placed in place of release.

Acting upon timely input, combined teams moved swiftly and rescued the victim without any untoward incident.

The rescued person has been handed over to his family members at the Lilong police station.

The police said that the motive behind the kidnapping and any potential connections to other incidents is under scrutiny.

A case has also been registered.
