IMPHAL: A coordinated operation by central and state security forces in valley districts of Manipur over the past 24 hours resulted in apprehension of three insurgents affiliated with different banned militant groups.

The Manipur police on Thursday (May 02) informed that the arrests were made along with confiscation of three pistols and multiple rounds of ammunition.

Acting on intelligence inputs, the joint forces conducted an operation in a secluded area within Imphal East district of Manipur, leading to the capture of two members of the outlawed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-Pro).

The individuals were identified as Naoroibam Joyshangker, also known as Loyumba or Khougang (39), and Thingom Suresh, alias Boy (38), residing in Lairikyengbam Leikai and Khurai Chaithabi Leirak, respectively.

During the operation, law enforcement recovered two 9mm pistols with magazines, one .32 pistol with a magazine, six live rounds of ammunition, and nine blank cartridges from their possession.

Following these arrests, the joint team initiated another operation resulting in the apprehension of a self-styled sergeant major associated with the banned organization Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP- Noyon).

Identified as Thoudam Nanao Singh, also known as Chingsanglakpa or Putra (43), he was detained in the Waithou area of Thoubal district of Manipur.

Law enforcement recovered one .32 pistol with a magazine and six live rounds from his possession.

The arrested insurgents, along with the seized items, were handed over to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings, as confirmed by the Manipur police authorities.
