Manipur: Two KCP cadres arrested for extortion in Imphal
Imphal: Two suspected cadres of underground groups were arrested for activities related to extortion and other crimes in Imphal, Manipur.
Police informed that one suspected cadre of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Lamyanba Khuman) namely, Leiphrakpam Jeneyson Singh (42) alias Punil of Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak, Imphal West District was arrested.
He was arrested along with a few amount of extorted money from Mahatma Gandhi Avenue, Imphal West District.

The police also arrested a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party - People's War Group (KCP-PWG), Organisation cadre namely, Mayanglambam Dhanbir.
He was arrested from his residence in Imphal East.

The suspected cadre was involved in extortion from various shops and the public residing in and around Imphal areas, the police said.
Both are now in police custody for legal proceedings, the police added.
