Manipur: Two arrested for drug trafficking in Senapati

Guwahati: Manipur Police arrested two suspected drug traffickers and seized a large quantity of brown sugar near the state's border with Nagaland on Sunday.

Acting on intelligence reports, a special operation team of the Senapati district police intercepted a vehicle on NH 102 near Mao, the state's last border town with Nagaland.

Upon searching the vehicle, the police recovered 14 soap cases containing brown sugar, weighing a total of 172.08 grams and estimated to be worth around Rs 1 lakh in the local market.

The two arrested individuals have been identified as Md Azad Khan (24) from Thoubal district and Khullakpam Yunush Khan (25) from Imphal East district.

They have been charged with possession of suspected banned substances and handed over to the Mao police station for further legal action.

The police have registered a case at the Mao police station and are currently investigating the matter.
