IMPHAL: A joint team comprising personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Assam Rifles, and Manipur police conducted raids in two villages along the Manipur-Myanmar border, resulting in the recovery of a cache of weapons and ammunition.

The operation was initiated based on specific intelligence indicating the presence of arms and ammunition in the vicinity of Lailoiphai village, located in Churachandpur district of Manipur.

Assam Rifles, ITBP and Manipur police collaborated in a combing operation that led to the recovery of significant weaponry, including a One Barrel Rifle, two improvised mortars, and various types of ammunition.

Following the operation at Lailoiphai village, the security forces extended their search to Maojang village in Tengnoupal district of Manipur.

Here, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted a thorough cordon and search operation, resulting in the recovery of a cache that included one AK-47 rifle, four shotguns, one Sig Sauer Pistol, three improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and additional ammunition and warlike stores.

The recovered weapons and ammunition have been handed over to Manipur police for further legal procedures, officials informed.
