Manipur: Security forces intercept suspected brown sugar concealed inside pumpkins

Guwahati: Security forces including personnel from Assam Rifles (AR) have intercepted a pickup truck which was carrying brown sugar hidden inside pumpkins in Pherzawl District.

The vehicle was going towards Assam’s Silchar town from Tipaimukh.

A total of 30 soap caps filled with brown sugar were found by the security forces.

The Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh took to X and wrote, “Great job to the 39th AR team and Jiribam PS for their vigilant actions in intercepting the brown sugar from a pickup truck heading towards Cachar from Tipaimukh, Pherzawl District.”

Singh further added, “Upon inspection, the team recovered 30 soap caps, collectively weighing approximately 363.45 grams (excluding the weight of the soap caps). Two persons, Abdul Mannan Mazumder and Khalil Ulla Barbhuiya were apprehended and handed over to Jiribam Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.”
