Manipur: Road accident involving Army vehicle claims young man's life

Imphal: A 21-year-old youth was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was allegedly hit by an Army vehicle on the National Highway 102 in Manipur on Monday morning, officials said.

The accident took place near the office of the Senapati District Council in Manipur's Senapati district on the NH-102 at around 8:30 am.

The deceased has been identified as Mahahei Horam, 21, a member of Tangkhul Naga community and a resident of Dingsong Centre village, Senapati district.

Police have registered a case in this regard and further investigation is underway.

The vehicle allegedly sped away from the scene towards Mao, a town on the Manipur-Nagaland border, according to eyewitnesses.

The Senapati district police recovered Horam's body and transported it to the district hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident further.
