Manipur: Relief pours in for affected people in Kangpokpi district

Imphal: The Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur, Siddharth Mridul, and the Indian Army on Thursday extended help and assistance to the various people affected by the ongoing communal violence in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, predominantly inhabited by the Kuki-Zo community, officials said.

Siddharth Mridul visited three relief camps —L. Lhangnomphai, Motbung High School, and Damdei Taloulong in Kangpokpi District interacted with displaced people.

The Chief Justice provided relief materials including sports materials and sweets to the displaced children.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Justice said that he is always looking forward to rendering his rights to other Internally Displaced Persons taking shelter in other camps that are eagerly awaiting assistance from the judiciary groups.

While the Chief Justice was rendering his best services in three relief camps, the Indian Army also distributed portable solar lanterns at the Semol and Samusung villages in the same District on Thursday.

The distribution aims to boost the national effort to promote renewable energy devices.

This initiative will have a positive impact on the lives of more than 350 villagers of these villages, a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence said.

The provision of solar lanterns will immediately benefit students of these far-flung villages and assist them in their quest for learning especially during the examinations. 

Indian Army through its projects is committed to bringing a positive change in the crisis-hit region, the statement added.
