Imphal: A massive hailstorm was reported across Imphal Valley in Manipur since Sunday, destroying houses and displacing residents.

The storm, which lasted for approximately two hours for several hours, affected many areas in the valley, leaving nearly 500 households without proper shelter.

The All Round Development Organisation (ARDO) stepped in to provide relief, establishing a temporary camp at Keirao Makting Makha Leikai in Imphal East.

ARDO chief advisor MI Khan stated that around 80 of the 500 affected households are in dire need of assistance.

As of now, roughly 350 residents have taken refuge in the temporary camp, which offers separate sections for men and women.

The hailstorm also caused extensive damage to vehicles and other property.

Khan urged the administration to address the situation swiftly and implement appropriate protocols to aid those affected by the disaster.
