Manipur: Proscribed KYKL cadre arrested with arms

Imphal: An active cadre of the proscribed Kanglei Yaol Kan-na Lup, (KYKL) was arrested along with one magazine loaded with 11 rounds, two mobile phones, one wallet containing Rs. 1010, and one Aadhaar card, the police report issued on Friday night said.

The arrested cadre was later identified as RK Jitensana @ Nanao (43), a resident of Pangei Leiram Mapan near the Manipur Police Training Centre (MPTC) gate in Imphal East district.

He is suspected of being involved in the assault of truck drivers at Sekmai in Imphal West district on the night of 16th February 2024, the police said.

The report states that the following items were recovered from his possession: one 9 mm pistol (suspected to be snatched from security forces) along with one magazine loaded with 11 rounds, two mobile phones, one wallet containing Rs. 1010, and one Aadhaar card.

Meanwhile, police appeal to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition, and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.

A total of 143 checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley, and Police detained 214 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State, the Manipur Police Control Room report added.
