Imphal: The Manipur police recovered a cache of high-tech weapons from a suspected militant hideout in Churachandpur district's Samulamlan village on Friday.

The seized items include three live rocket head ammunition of different sizes with improvised mortars (pumps), three anti-riot stun shells, one stun grenade and one improvised rocket shell.

The raid was conducted based on intelligence sources from across the border, and the recovery is considered a major achievement for the state forces.

This comes after a recent rocket attack by suspected miscreants killed a 78-year-old Meitei man and injured 5 others, including a girl, in Moirang, Bishnupur district.

The attack was launched from Churachandpur district on September 1, 2024.

Churachandpur district has been at the epicenter of the ongoing communal violence resulting in over 230 deaths and displacing around 60,000 people.
