Manipur: Police nab suspected PREPAK-Pro cadre

Imphal: A joint team of security forces and Manipur police arrested a suspected active member of the banned militant group, People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-Pro).

Acting on intelligence reports suggesting valley-based insurgents attempting to establish a presence along Manipur's western border, security forces launched a coordinated operation.

The successful mission resulted in the apprehension of 31-year-old Khundrakpam Kiran Singh at a hideout in Uchathol, Jiribam District.

Jiribam shares a border with Cachar district in Assam.

The police suspect Singh of involvement in extortion activities within Jiribam District over the past few months.

His arrest comes amidst heightened security measures, with a total of 123 checkpoints established across Manipur's hill and valley regions.

Singh has been handed over to Jiribam police for further legal proceedings.
