Manipur police nab KYKL extortionist, recover weapons
Imphal: Manipur Police on Saturday arrested a suspected member of the proscribed Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL) involved in extortion activities in Imphal East district.
The arrest was made during a joint operation by Imphal East District Commandos and Manipur Police at a hideout in Chingarel Tezpur village.
The apprehended individual, identified as Shrimayum Rishikesh Sharma, alias Loijing, 21, was found in possession of a Lethod gun, a lethod shell holder, and 11 lethod bomb shells.
Acting on specific intelligence about KYKL extortionists operating near Chingarel bazaar, the security forces conducted a search operation at the hideout.
The recovered weapons and the arrested individual have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
