Imphal: Manipur police have apprehended three cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party-Nongdrenkhomba (KCP-N) in a raid on a hideout in Imphal West district.

In a statement issued on Monday, police said the operation was launched on Sunday following intelligence inputs about a group of armed men extorting money from businessmen, government employees, and civilians.

Acting on this information, Imphal West district police commandos stormed a hideout located at Khori Arcade in Hiyangthang.

The three apprehended KCP-N militants have been identified as Sanju Wahengbam (20), Soibam Manoj Singh (27), and Soibam Lanchenba Meitei (24).

In addition to the arrests, the police seized Rs 50,110 in cash, a four-wheeler vehicle, and three mobile phones from the hideout.

The arrested insurgents and the recovered items have been handed over to the concerned police station for further investigation and legal action.
