Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated the newly constructed Administrative Building, Classroom Building A, and a dedicated Other Backward Classes (OBC) Girls' Hostel at Liberal College, Imphal, on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized the pivotal role of education in driving progress.

He stressed the importance of ensuring equitable access to quality education for all students, and the newly inaugurated infrastructure would significantly contribute to providing well-equipped learning environments.

Biren Singh expressed his appreciation for the college's commitment to fostering a sense of belonging, discipline, and nationalism among its students.

He highlighted the practice of singing the State song and National anthem during morning assembly as a valuable tradition that instills these important values.

The Chief Minister also underscored the significance of discipline in building a progressive society. He urged the youth to develop discipline, respect for elders, and a strong work ethic to contribute positively to their communities.

Education Minister Th. Basantakumar Singh echoed the Chief Minister's sentiments, emphasizing the need for youth to acquire skills that enable them to seize opportunities regardless of their socio-economic background.

He spoke on the government's efforts to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor through initiatives such as vocational training in Higher Secondary Schools and skill-based courses in government colleges.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by DC Imphal East Smt. Khumanthem Diana Devi, administrative officials, the college principal, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students.
