Manipur: Naga leaders urge Governor for development of Nagas in Senapati district

Imphal: Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey during a visit to Senapati district headquarters on Saturday, received a series of petitions from Naga community representatives advocating for the district's development.

Senapati is home to a significant portion of the state's Naga population.

Representatives from various Naga organizations, including the Naga People's Organisation, Senapati, Zeliangrong Union, Senapati Zone, Maram Union, Senapati, Senapati District Women's Association, All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Senapati District Students Association, Senapati District Olympic Association, and Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati District Branch, interacted with the Governor.

The demands include setting up of a medical college in the Senapati district, the construction of a multipurpose hall, upgradation of Don Bosco College, Maram to a full-fledged university, setting up a rehabilitation centre for the drug-affected youths as a part of the drug surveillance programme, functioning of blood bank in the district hospital and upgradation of AstroTurf in Senapati.

Earlier, on her arrival at the district headquarters in Senapati town, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome by the Deputy Commissioner, Mamoni Doley, the Superintendent of Police, Ms. Anupam, and other officials along with representatives of CSOs and the people.
