Imphal: A drone attack on Monday evening left three civilians, including a young woman, injured in the Senjam Chirang village in Manipur's Imphal West district, police said.

Watham Sanatombi (23) and her younger brother, W Sanatombi (20), were among those injured in the aerial bombardment, which occurred around 7 PM, said a police official.

The 23-year-old sustained a splinter injury to her abdomen. All three victims were initially taken to Raj Medicity and later transferred to Shija Hospital in Imphal for further treatment, he said.

Security forces conducted operations in the vulnerable areas bordering Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts following the incident.

During these searches, a drone was recovered from Kharam Vaiphei in Kangpokpi district. However, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

According to police, suspected Kuki militants employed high-tech drones equipped with rocket-propelled grenades to launch multiple attacks on Meitei villages in Imphal West and Imphal East districts.

These attacks resulted in injuries to numerous individuals and widespread property damage.
