Manipur launches pulse polio drive to immunize over 3.5 lakh children

Imphal: The Manipur government commenced the Pulse Polio immunization campaign on Sunday, aiming to reach over 353,000 children under five years old.

The theme of the program is "Let the victory continue over polio with two drops of life."

Manipur Health and Information and Public Relations Minister, Sapam Ranjan Singh, officially launched the National Immunization Day/Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme 2024 by administering polio vaccines to several children.

The program is organized by the Directorate of Family Welfare Services, Manipur, in collaboration with the State Health Society, National Health Mission (NHM), Manipur.

The program began with a network of 3,564 booths, staffed by 712 supervisors, distributing polio drops on Sunday.

This will be followed by a house-to-house campaign on March 4 and 5, the minister added.

To ensure wider coverage, the program also includes immunizations at internally displaced persons' relief camps, transit points, and bus stops. The program will conclude on March 5.
