Manipur: Kuki militant injured in Churachandpur ambush

Imphal: A Kuki National Front-Military Council (KNF-MC) team led by self-styled Commander German alias Thangjaral Haokip was ambushed by unidentified gunmen in Manipur's Churachandpur district on Friday evening.

According to police, the attack occurred around 8 pm near the Molnom Endurance Library in Churachandpur. A KNF-MC cadre, identified as Stonic (28), was injured during the approximately three-minute gunfight.

Commander German was unharmed. The assailants, believed to be armed and traveling in a Maruti Gypsy, fled the scene, said a police official.

The injured cadre was rushed to Churachandpur District Hospital for treatment, he said. Security forces, including police and paramilitary personnel, were immediately deployed to the area to maintain peace.

Manipur police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident, the official added.
