Manipur: Internet services via broadband restored
Guwahati: The Manipur government has restored internet services through broadband connections in five valley districts of the crisis-hit state as the protests quelled in these districts.
The internet services were restored after three days of mobile data and internet services suspension owing to massive protests by students in the state’s capital Imphal.
However, the Manipur government in an order on Thursday (September 12, 2024) said suspension of mobile data services in these districts - Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching - continue to be in place.

Mobile data and internet services were snapped from 3 pm of September 10 for a period of five days after massive protests by the student community erupted in the state’s capital Imphal over the recent drone attacks in Imphal West district since
Internet services were imposed in order to prevent possible circulation of inflammatory messages and videos that could have possibly incited the people more leading to further deterioration in the law and order situation.
