Imphal: The Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey inaugurated a New Auditorium of Sainik School, Imphal named after Captain Vikram Batra on Monday (February 19, 2024) at its campus in Pangei of Imphal East district.

As part of the occasion, the Governor planted a tree and also released a souvenir.

Accompanied by over 540 cadets, principals, and staff of the school the Governor also inspected the girls’ hostel as well as reviewed the progress of under under-construction building.

Established in 1971, Sainik School, Imphal has produced more than 300 capable and brave officers for the Army, and Navy since its inception officers passed out from this school have shown their bravery and intelligence in Galwan Valley against the Chinese Army.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor highlighted the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021, for providing girls students the opportunity to study in this school.

Such an initiative will give a platform for the girls’ cadets to demonstrate their ability in national defense and to show their competency by equally participating in other pieces of training.

Uikey also mentioned the notable achievements of the students of this school which include 14 cadets getting scholarships under the Deendayal Sparsh Yojana and the representation of cadets of the school in football and performance in the Subroto Cup.
