Manipur to financially assist 300 families for children’s education
Imphal: The Manipur government has announced a series of financial aid and welfare packages aimed at supporting the state’s residents amid ongoing challenges.
Informing this Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh, on Thursday (July 25), announced various initiatives, stating that the state government is committed to the welfare and development of the people of the state.
The Manipur chief minister highlighted the distribution of Rs 29.65 lakhs in financial assistance for the education of children from 300 beneficiary families through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
“As we distribute these benefits, we reaffirm our commitment to the welfare and development of our hardworking people,” Manipur CM N Biren Singh stated.
Additionally, a compensatory package totalling approximately Rs 19 crores has been released.
To enhance nutrition and personal hygiene for children, the Manipur government has allocated around Rs 44 crores.
For displaced families in relief camps, the first instalment of Rs 25,000 per family, benefiting 6000 families, has been disbursed as part of a “special assistance of Rs 1 lakh per family” initiative.
To provide entertainment and improve the quality of life in relief camps in Manipur, the government has allocated around Rs 3 crores for installing TV sets.
With the improvement of law and order in certain areas, around Rs 20 crores have been released to construct permanent houses for an estimated 736 families.
For families affected by recent hailstorms, the government has supplied CGI sheets to 42,000 families at a cost of around Rs 45 crores.
The central government has also sanctioned an overall amount of Rs 80 crores for flood and hailstorm relief efforts.
Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh also urged unity among the people of Manipur to restore peace in the state.
“Together, we can overcome these challenges and build a brighter future for our state,” he said.
