Election observes take stock of poll preparations in Pherzaw

Pherzawl: General Observer appointed by the Election Commission of India for Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Ujjwal Kumar IAS accompanied by Expenditure Observers for Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Bhartendu Kumar Singh IDAS and Gaurav K Singh IRS on Thursday visited to take stock of poll preparations in Pherzaw.

This district shares borders with Mizoram, Assam, and Myanmar.

The Election Observers visited Peace Ground in Tuibong to witness the second phase dispersal of polling teams for Tipaimukh and Thanlon Assembly Segments of Pherzawl which has a total of 34,897 voters.

The dispersal of polling personnel for the 78 polling stations in Pherzawl district which began on Monday was completed on Thursday.

The Election Observers also held a joint meeting with Pherzawl District Election Officer Asish Das as well as Churachandpur DEO Dharun Kumar wherein the Observers were briefed on the measures undertaken in the two districts for free, fair, and smooth conduct of Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Meanwhile, DEO Pherzawl has issued an order prohibiting the sale of liquor as well as other intoxicating substances and also prohibits the use of loudspeakers in the two assembly segments within the Pherzawl district from 4 PM of April 24 till the completion of polling. Pherzawl district will go to polls on April 26.

Outer Manipur PC would see a four-sided fight among INC’s Alfred Kanngam Arthur, NPF's Kachui Timothy Zimik, and Independent candidates S Kho John and Alyson Abonmai.
