Aizawl: Mizoram chief minister Lalduhoma has urged the central government to initiate dialogue with the Kuki-Zo leaders to resolve the crisis in Manipur.

Notably, Mizoram CM Lalduhoma met union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi recently and held discussions on the ethnic strife plaguing Manipur.

The Mizoram chief minister urged union home minister Amit Shah to facilitate a meeting between the officials of the ministry of home affairs (MHA) and leaders of the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF).

ITLF represents the tribal communities in Manipur.

Meanwhile, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh also invited his Mizoram counterpart to visit Manipur.

The ethnic clashes in Manipur has left over 220 people dead and thousands of other displaced since May last year.

At the height of the Manipur ethnic turmoil, over 12,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) from Manipur sought refuge in Mizoram.

However, many have since returned to their home state.
