Manipur crisis: Fresh violence erupts in Imphal East, armed miscreants open fire

IMPHAL: Fresh violence has erupted in the Northeast state of Manipur, with armed miscreants, on Wednesday (February 07), opening indiscriminate firing in Imphal East district.

According to reports, the armed miscreants launched an unprecedented attack at Itham Moirang Purel under Imphal East district of Manipur in the wee hours of Wednesday (February 07).

The armed miscreants attacked Itham Moirang Purel at around 3:15 am of February 07.

Reports claim that the armed miscreants targeted village defence volunteers and security forces in course of the attack.

Security forces retaliated, resulting in heavy firefight between both sides.

Although the gun battle lasted for some time, no casualty was reported in the incident.

On Tuesday (February 06), armed miscreants launched a similar attack at Tumukhong under Imphal East district of Manipur.
