Y Leirik Leima, coordinator of the COCOMI Women's Wing, expressed concern about the influx of non-local products during festivals, which negatively impacts the state's economy.

She urged people to prioritize locally sourced gifts, especially those crafted by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing in relief camps across Manipur.

In light of the ongoing ethnic conflict, Y Leirik Leima appealed for a subdued celebration of Ningol Chakkouba.

She emphasized the importance of supporting the "Vocal for Local" and "Self-reliant Manipur" campaigns, as envisioned by the Chief Minister.

By purchasing locally made gifts, people can contribute to the economic well-being of rural artisans and traditional craftsmen, preserving Manipur's rich cultural heritage.

Ningol Chakkouba, once exclusively celebrated by the Meitei community, has now gained widespread acceptance among various ethnic groups in Manipur.

Y Leirik Leima highlighted the quality of Manipur-made products, urging people to choose local goods as gifts and bolster the state's economy.
