Imphal: Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday unveiled a massive development package worth approximately Rs 5,276 crore for Manipur.

The ambitious plan, falling under the ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Manipur’ initiative, will focus on critical infrastructure and disaster recovery.

A key highlight of the announcement is the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Imphal Ring Road project, estimated to cost Rs 1,776 crore. This project is expected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion in the state capital.

Chief Minister Singh also provided an update on the progress of the strategically important Imphal-Jiribam railway line, which will connect Manipur to the national rail network.

Once completed, the 111 km long stretch, including the world's tallest pier railway bridge at Noney, will revolutionize transportation in the region.

Addressing the issue of natural calamities, Singh assured the public of the government’s commitment to rebuilding homes, repairing damaged roads, and bridges affected by floods and hailstorms.

He also spoke on the ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare facilities through the construction of 11 new health infrastructure projects under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission and The Emergency Covid Response Plan.
