Manipur: Bunker destroyed, weapons recovered in Imphal East and West
Imphal: In their best efforts to de-escalate the ongoing ethnic tension, the security forces uncovered a bunker and a large number of arms, ammunition, explosives, and warlike stores in the sensitive hideouts of the miscreants at two strategic locations in the valley districts of Manipur on Monday, the police said on Tuesday.
Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of valley districts — Imphal West and Imphal East.
One illegal bunker was dismantled by Security Forces at Kadangband, Imphal West District during the operation.
Inside the bunker, one Heckler and Koch Assault Rifle, one SLR, a carbine, three .32 Pistol, one 9mm Pistol, and three 12-inch single barrel gun were also recovered.
Another successful operation was also conducted at Tera Karong Village, Imphal East District resulting in the recovery of two country-made rifles, five HE-36 hand grenades, four detonators, one stun grenade, and two tear gas shells.
The police added that the recovered items have been handed over to the concerned police station for further proceedings.
