Guwahati: Assam Rifles has strongly refuted the allegations of partiality and negligence in their operations in Manipur’s Jiribam.

The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) alleged that Assam Rifles had allowed Kuki militants to burn down Meitei houses after evacuating residents, and had barred additional state forces from intervening.

Assam Rifles, however, categorically denies these allegations, asserting their commitment to impartiality and the protection of all civilians.

They highlight recent efforts, including the rescue of trapped civilians from a burning house in Leisabithol village and their safe evacuation to Internally Displaced Personnel (IDP) camps in Jiribam, as evidence of their dedication to citizen safety.

Furthermore, Assam Rifles emphasizes their active coordination with all security forces to ensure the restoration of normalcy and the safety of residents in Jiribam.

They stress the importance of verifying news before publication, cautioning against the potential for inaccurate information to incite unrest.

The Assam Rifles in the statement reaffirms their unwavering commitment to restoring and maintaining stability in Jiribam, pledging continued efforts to protect all citizens regardless of ethnicity or affiliation.
