IMPHAL: Troopers of territorial army recovered approximately 42 kilograms of explosive materials during a rescue operation led by its battalion commandant for a truck that had an accident about 8 kilometers from Nungba police station in Noney district of Manipur.

Responding to a report of an accident involving a truck carrying a full load of cement from Silchar, Assam to Imphal via Jiribam district headquarters of Manipur, Colonel RK Sharma, Commandant of the 107 Territorial Army Battalion, rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, the army team successfully rescued the driver of the truck, which had plunged approximately 200 feet into a gorge beside National Highway 37 connecting Imphal to Silchar, in the Nungba area of Noney district, Manipur, on Thursday afternoon.

The injured driver was transported to a hospital in Silchar for treatment.

To the dismay of the security forces, approximately 42 kilograms of explosive materials were discovered scattered around the overturned vehicle.

A team from the Nungba police station promptly arrived, and the retrieved explosives were taken into police custody for further investigation.

A case has been filed against the injured driver, with ongoing investigations, as stated by the police.
