Manipur: 3 KYKL cadres arrested for extortion in Imphal West

IMPHAL: Three suspected cadres of the proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) were arrested in connection with extortion-related cases in Imphal West, Manipur.

Police said that four firearms of different types, one vehicle, three mobile handsets, two Aadhar cards, and a small amount of money were recovered from them.

The arrests and seizures were made during a special operation conducted by the Manipur Police commandos at their hideout at Lairenkabi bazaar in Imphal West on Thursday.

The arrested cadres were later identified as Jiten Sana RK alias Nanao (40), Takhelchangbam Ibohanbi alias Chaoba (49), and Aheibam Jimson (28).

Police informed, one AK rifle along with one magazine and five rounds, one INSAS rifle along with three magazines along with 15 rounds, one Joint Venture Protective Carbine along with two magazines and 140 rounds, one INSAS LMG magazine, one four-wheeler vehicle, three mobile handsets with six SIM cards, two Aadhaar cards and one wallet were recovered.

The apprehended individuals and recovered items are now in the Police custody for further legal proceedings, the police added.
