Dr Tiwari said: “We have received approval for the deployment of 40 companies of central armed police forces (CAPFs).”

He noted that five CAPF companies have already been stationed in Meghalaya, with the remainder to be deployed as per the established plan.

Dr Tiwari reassured that all necessary measures have been taken to address law and order concerns in Meghalaya, including issues related to border security, ahead of the elections.

“The election commission of India (ECI) is issuing necessary instructions, and we are coordinating with neighbouring states,” the Meghalaya CEO added.

However, he refrained from providing specific numbers regarding vulnerable and critical polling stations, citing the dynamic nature of the situation.

Dr Tiwari mentioned that two complaints related to violations of the model code of conduct in Meghalaya have been received thus far.
