Imphal: Amid strict security arrangements taken up, the voter turnout was 86 per cent at 5 pm during re-polling at eleven polling stations of Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency on Monday, officials said.

Over 72 per cent of voters cast their votes in the elections on April 19.

The decision about fresh polling was taken under the directive from the Election Commission, which declared voting held at these stations on April 19 as null and void. Incidents of firing, intimidation, destruction of EVMs by some anti-socials at some polling stations, and allegations of booth capturing have responded with the re-polling.

However, on Monday, no disturbance or violence was reported during the re-polling, an election official said.

Voters queued up since early morning to exercise their franchise starting at 7 am at all the 11 polling stations and ending at 5 pm.

The votes will be counted on June 4.

These polling stations are under the jurisdiction of 5 assembly segments in two districts — Imphal West and Imphal East.

The 11 polling stations are 3/11 Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School (Khurai AC), 3/21 S Ibobi Primary School (East Wing), Khurai Thongam Leikai (Khurai AC), 5/31 Khongman Zone (V) A, National Children's School (Thongju AC), Uripok AC's 10/1 Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Eastern Wing), 10/6 Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Western Wing) and 10/7 Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Middle Wing), Kshetrigao AC's 4/43 Bamon Kampu Upper Primary School, 4/44 Pioneer Academy, Bamon Kampu, 4/45 Irilbung High School (North Wing), 4/46 Irilbung High School (South Wing) and 18/22 Khaidem Makha (Konthoujam AC).
