Kuki Inpi issues directives for Kuki voters in Manipur
Imphal: In line with point 5 of the Congress party’s manifesto “to bring about a political and administrative settlement that will be satisfactory to all the people of Manipur,” Kuki organizations including the Kuki Inpi Manipur, KSO-GHQ, Kuki Inpi Churachandpur and KSO Churachandpur along with the Kuki SoO groups including KNO, have signed an agreement with the Congress party (INC).
This was stated in a notification issued by the Department of Political Affairs, Kuki Inpi, Manipur, an Apex Kuki body in the state on Wednesday.
Congress is setting up two candidates -one each for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat and Outer Manipur PC reserved for scheduled tribes in the state. Manipur will go to the Lok Sabha polls on April 19 and April 26.
As per the agreement, the Kuki organizations and leaders will ensure all Kuki votes or all votes in Kuki-dominated areas shall be cast for the INC candidates in the ensuing MP elections, both in the Outer Manipur as well as in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
In return, the Congress party will grant or support Kuki’s demand for Separate Administration for Kukis that will be carved out of Kuki-inhabited areas of Manipur state; including Churachandpur, Pherzawl, Kangpokpi. Tengnoupal, Chandel, and Jiribam districts; also Kuki-inhabited areas of other districts of Manipur including, Ukhrul, Senapati, Tamenglong, Imphal East & West, Thoubal, and Bishnupur.
Congress party shall protect Kuki (Any Kuki Tribes of 2003) and fight against any move to remove it (Kuki/AKT) from the Scheduled Tribes list of Manipur, but will instead delete all the existing Chin-Zomi-Mizo tribes that were recognized in 1956.
Kukis will be exempted from the National Register of Citizens (NRC) whenever NRC is implemented in Manipur.
Therefore, all Kukis are directed to support and cast votes for INC candidates in the upcoming election to Outer Manipur as well as in Inner Manipur.
Stringent punitive actions will be taken against all those who fail to follow this directive.
All election volunteers under strict supervision of KIM, KSO, KNO, and their cadres will be deployed at all polling booths on election days to ensure all votes go to the Congress candidate only.
Every Kuki must show a force of unity fight for our rights to our ancestral land and do whatever is necessary to defeat the adversarial force.
This directive is issued as a follow-up action of the recent meeting held at the office of Kuki Inpi at Tuibong that was participated by Kuki leaders from KNO, Kuki Inpi, KSO, and Kuki MLAs including Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip, Singhat MLA Chinlunthang Zou & Henglep MLA Letzamang Haokip.
This meeting was held following a closed-door meeting between Congress candidate Alfred Arthur, senior Congress leaders, and top Kuki leaders at Guwahati and Tuibong.
It was also discussed that immediately after the MP election, the current BJP government under the chief ministership of N. Biren Singh will be toppled with the support of Kuki MLAs and other disgruntled Meitei MLAs and a new government will be formed under a new leadership where Kuki MLA Paolienlal Haokip will be the Deputy Chief Minister until creation of a separate Kuki administration.
This is part of the plan for the creation of a Separate Administration for the Kukis, where there will be a separate chief minister, a separate chief secretary, and a separate DGP.
With this in mind, every Kuki should vote unitedly and consciously only for the Congress party in the upcoming MP election.
