Kidney transplant procedure to start at GB Pant hospital soon: Tripura CM

AGARTALA: Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha, on Thursday (May 02) announced plans of the state government to start kidney transplant procedures at the state-run GB Pant Hospital in Agartala.

“A dedicated team of doctors and staff has undergone training in Manipur and has returned. Discussions with the principal of AGMC have also taken place. We are gearing up to launch these services in the near future,” the Tripura CM said.

Tripura CM Manik Saha said that considerations are being made for installing an iron removal plant to address water quality issues within the hospital premises.

“Given the presence of iron in the water at GB Pant, we are exploring options to install an iron removal plant. Our vision is to transform this facility into a center of excellence, capitalizing on existing infrastructure,” CM Saha said.

Tripura CM Manik Saha made these announcements following his visit to GB Pant and Agartala government medical college.

“I conducted an inspection of the super-speciality hospital at GB Pant and Agartala Government Medical College. The progress witnessed is encouraging. Offices are undergoing relocation, and we are aiming to establish seven super-speciality outpatient departments and wards here,” said Tripura CM Manik Saha.

He said: “Our goal is to expedite this process. During my visit, I assessed the neurosurgery and nephrology departments, reviewed various reports, and engaged in discussions with doctors and staff regarding medication quality and equipment maintenance.”

The Tripura chief minister expressed confidence that pending tasks would be swiftly addressed in collaboration with the Public Works Department (PWD), the electrical department, and other relevant authorities.
