Indian residents in Bangladesh told to avoid travel amid anti-quota protests
Guwahati: The anti-quota protests in Bangladesh have led the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh to issue an advisory to the Indian citizens in Bangladesh.
It has advised them to avoid travel and minimise their movement outside the premises where they are residing.
“In view of the ongoing situation in Bangladesh, the Indian community members and the Indian students residing in Bangladesh are advised to avoid travel and minimize their movement outside their living premises,” the Indian High Commission in Dhaka said in an advisory.
In case of any urgency or need for assistance, the Indian residents in Bangladesh were asked to reach out to the High Commission and the Assistant High Commissions at 24-hour Emergency numbers.
The anti-quota protests turned violent this week when thousands of anti-quota protesters clashed with members of the student wing of the ruling Awami League party across the country.
Six people, including at least three students, were killed during clashes on Tuesday, police said.
