Guwahati: Yoga is considered a vital practice for military personnel as the men in combat uniform face various physically and mentally demanding conditions while serving on the frontlines.

Practicing Yoga enhances the overall well-being of the soldiers by improving their physical as well as mental health, thereby boosting their resilience and performance even in the most challenging and demanding situations, Guwahati-based Defence PRO, Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, said.

As part of the International Yoga Day on Friday, the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps conducted several Yoga activities in the military stations across the Northeastern state of Sikkim, including the high-altitude bordering areas located above 15,000 ft, he said.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation by the serving soldiers and their families in the military stations of the Trishakti Corps. At many places, the local populace had been invited to practice Yoga alongside the troops and their families, he added.

During the event, special emphasis was laid on creating awareness about the benefits of practicing Yoga and making it a part of life. Notably, the military personnel had been practicing Yoga from the beginning of June which culminated on Friday, Lt Col Rawat further said.
