Heavy rainfall triggers more landslides in Sikkim

GANGTOK: Incessant heavy rainfall has triggered widespread landslides across various parts of Sikkim, with Dentam in West Sikkim bearing the brunt of the impact.

The landslides have caused significant property damage and livestock loss, although no human casualties have been reported.

The continuous downpour has led to destruction of several houses and the death of numerous cattle in Dentam, Sikkim.

Emergency response teams have been deployed to clear debris and restore access to blocked roads.

Residents in vulnerable areas of Sikkim have been advised to remain vigilant and adhere to safety advisories issued by local authorities.

Efforts are underway to assist those impacted by the landslides, with the Sikkim government and local agencies coordinating relief operations.

This includes providing temporary shelter, food, and medical aid to those displaced by the landslides.

Meanwhile, Maneybong Dentam MLA Sudesh Kumar Subba visited the affected areas and took stock of situation.
